OUT TAKE: COMPOSER/SONGWRITER JACK WILLIAMS

MAGAZINEOCTOBER 26, 2020JESSICA PACE

Composer, performer and songwriter Jack Williams was a chef in Atlanta working part-time as a roadie when he landed his first big break—by knocking on ’60s folk icon Richie Havens’ hotel room door and handing him a cassette. It resulted in Havens inviting Williams to New York to be his opening act. Ever since, Williams has pursued opportunities and connections in similar bold fashion. Read More

Tales From YellowStone

Tales From YellowStone

Friday I got a phone call from the Kevin Costner camp saying telling me that the new “Kevin Costner & Modern West” album, “Tales from Yellowstone” was being released on June 19th and along with landing four co-written songs on it, one of those songs, “Won’t stop lovin you” is one that Kevin Costner, Troy Johnson, Scott Lindsey and I wrote and was picked to be the 1st single & video off of the album.

It’s pretty exciting for me to be a small part of such a huge release and I can’t thank Kevin Costner & his band Modern West enough for believing in me and my songwriting enough to welcome me into their close family and allow me to be creative with them because I know that without all their beliefs collectively this great accomplishment would’ve never come about!

My Newest Project

My Newest Project

About two years ago a friend of mine, Scott Robinson (owner of Dualtone Records) saw me perform my songs in a writer’s round at Puckett’s Grocery in Leiper’s Fork TN. After the show Scott told me the same thing that my first mentor and dear friend Richie Havens had told me many years ago. He said I should make my own record and sing my own songs. I mentioned this to my good friend Adam Box (drummer for highly acclaimed country two-time ACM & CMA country duo of the year, The Brothers Osbourne) and he offered to produce a 5 song EP on me. I immediately called on my close friend and great writer Mark Marchetti to co-write the first two songs “WHAT YOU GONNA DO” & “ALREADY DEAD” with me. Once Adam got his hands on them it seemed like it was something that I needed to finish so that I would have some really cool dark songs to be able to give to my TV and Film publishers. In early December of 2019, I had a meeting in Los Angeles with my TV and Film folks at “Anthem Entertainment” and played them very rough mixes of the first four tracks. Their highly positive and excited reaction to getting the finished project in their hands as soon as possible gave Adam and I the green light to get it done as quickly as possible.

My EP is now in the final stages of mastering. My hope is that the songs on this EP will end up on some TV shows and/or in a movie or two, sometime in the near future, and lead us towards more exciting opportunities.
